Veterinary Practice Manager Required- Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
Ridings Equine Vets is currently recruiting for a full-time Veterinary Practice Manager to join our rapidly growing Equine Veterinary Practice situated in Darrington, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire. We are looking for someone with strong IT, HR and business management experience to help take the practice forward and increase in size and performance.
The successful candidate will have a key role in the development of the practice and review and improve our existing management processes, you must have a strong ability to identify the need for change and initiative to take the practice to the next level. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the practice, leading and managing our team and ensuring a high level of service is provided. The role is a mix of HR, finance and business management and sales and marketing.
Previous management experience is essential with proven experience of leading and managing people. Excellent interpersonal and administration skills are required as well as strong IT and HR skills.
Job responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the day to day running of the practice
Understand the application and maintenance of office equipment and train staff in these areas
Ensure excellent client service is maintained at all times
Engage with and motivate the team
Develop and implement effective communication practices within the team
Organise and conduct team meetings
Conduct employee inductions, appraisals and exit interviews
Staff training, development and disciplinary procedures
Recruitment of new staff
Prepare and oversea staff rotas
Develop and implement staff job descriptions and staff performance targets and measures
Review and create new SOPs, policies and protocols
Ensure the practice is abiding to current employment law
Ensure the practice has a sound health and safety policy and procedures, carry out a review and implement changes
Prepare, review and evaluate practice manuals and protocols
Set and enforce effective credit control, monitoring debtors, arranging payment plans, leasing with debt collection agencies and small claims courts.
Dealing with account queries
Checking invoicing and billing is accurate
Negotiate discounts with suppliers
Managing client complaints
Managing website updates, overseeing social media marketing and email marketing
Identifying and initiating marketing initiatives
Plan and coordinate promotional events
Regular reviews of business and financial performance trends
Assist in development of the ongoing practice business plan, marketing plan and staff development plans.
Vehicle fleet management
Attendance at veterinary and management CPD events
Skills required include:
Experience in leading and managing a team of people
Record of managing sales/marketing in a professional environment and monitoring targets
Understanding of financial analytics and business performance with experience of improving profit and loss
Excellent IT skills
Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate a team of people and deal with conflict
Sound knowledge of HR and experience of managing people and processes
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Knowledge and ability to implement HS, COSH and employment law
Please note experience of veterinary practice is NOT essential for this position.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Typical working hours are 40 hours per week, 9-5pm Mon-Fri. This position requires some flexibility and may include occasional weekend work. Start date August 2016.
