About Us

Ridings Equine Vets is an equine only veterinary practice based in a village called Lumby in North Yorkshire. We aim to deliver exceptional client care to horse owners in our area both at their own yards and at our practice base. We have 5 equine vets that provide a service 24/7 including routine work, dentistry, lameness investigations, stud work, gastroscopy and much more. With in-patient facilities we are well equipped for horses to come to us for investigations, but all our equipment is also fully mobile for our ambulatory service.

The practice was established in 2013 and has grown rapidly. All the team love horses and strive to be the best we can possibly be by aiming for exceptional service, being caring and compassionate and working together as a team.

The Role

We are searching for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team as Office Manager on a full-time basis, working in our fast paced office environment to manage the smooth running of the office.

Within this role, a key focus will be to have overall responsibility for the Practice finance administration and debt control process whilst ensuring the submission of the monthly payroll and pension information, as well as prepare the quarterly VAT return. 

 It is also expected that you will be responsible and accountable for managing a small office based team and your attention and focus will be required on the following:

  • people and process management
  • recruitment and selection
  • staff inductions
  • training
  • performance reviews
  • sickness and annual leave management
  • monitoring and supporting the delivery of team protocols, key performance indicators and objectives
  • support with office related tasks during busy periods

On a day to day basis, in support of the above key areas of focus, you will deal with all matters relating to the running of the office including handling complaints from clients, formulating and revising office protocols, monitoring processes and procedures, health and safety matters and organising team and office meetings. 

You will work closely with the Clinical Director in order to help move the Practice forward and achieve the objectives of delivering exceptional veterinary and client care.

Skills and Experience requirements

The office manager will need to be in possession of;

  • Office management experience in all aspects of managing a team and related tasks
  • Experience on working on your own initiative
  • Experience of working with key performance indicators and meeting deadlines
  • Be an effective communicator
  • Well-developed organisational skills
  • Well-developed customer service skills
  • Some basic horse care knowledge
  • Experience in the veterinary sector is desirable however not essential


 £23,000 - £28,000 depending on experience

 35-hour week.
