Ridings Equine Vets celebrated 10 years of business in May by hosting the first ever practice Open Day!
The Ridings team worked incredibly hard to pull of a fabulous day in lovely sunshine. Our clients were treated to demonstrations and talks by the vet team as well as some fascinating demos by external
providers. Mark Taylor gave a talk and demo on loading difficult horses and had Charlie behaving impeccably after only a few minutes of natural horsemanship work! Sarah Rhymer spoke about physio for horses and used a ridden horse/rider combo to illustrate her point with our own Katie Brickman and her horse Mary in the arena. Becky Brown Bit and Bridle fitting consultant gave an excellent live presentation using Lily and Buttons as models into the correct fitting of the bit and bridle.
Ridings Vet Adam gave a talk on bandaging and with Mary as his very well behaved model he showed the audience how to apply a bandage to a horse and the importance of getting the right tension.
We hope all our clients had an enjoyable day out - they certainly seemed to and were able to enjoy plenty of refreshments, ice cream, cakes and strawberries with cream!
Meanwhile Katie was busy in our dissection room with some specimens and Laura was giving a presentation on laminitis!
Maddie talked about first aid and Jenny gave a foot poultice demonstration as well as some advice on what to do if your horse stands on a nail.
The groom team worked tirelessly throughout the day selling raffle tickets for our chosen charities; The Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the cancer charity Firefly. While the office team manned the bake off stall and the strawberries!
We are truly grateful to all of our wonderful clients that came along on the day to support us and for those that couldn't make it but sent us words of support and congratulations. We couldn't do what we do without you and it really makes are job so much more satisfying working with the amazing horse owners that we have!
We hope to see you all in 15 years for our 25 year celebration!
Jenny xx
